We’ve redesigned the Group Directory across web and mobile — making it faster for members to find the right groups and easier for you to shape the experience. And... it just looks a whole lot nicer!

The group directory redesign is the second installment of a major project to decouple directories from one another, giving network owners more control over the network experience. The Member Directory is now just for members. The Group Directory is now just for groups. And soon, "Discover", the content directory, will just be for content. Makes sense, right? These directories also come with powerful filtering and search capabitiies.

A New But Familiar Directory Experience On Every Platform

In decoupling the directories, one of our major focuses was to make sure we created a common directory experience across all directories and platforms, making Honeycommb familiar and easy to use for your members.

Like the Member Directory that launched a few months prior, the Groups Directory shares a design approach making the interface easily understood and simple to use.

The new "card" design for a group in the directory includes a new image format, now also used in the Group Header, to help network owners "brand" each group, and to help member quickly identify their group. This makes groups more recognizable, and the list easier to scan and find the group one is looking for.

This update is now available across web, iOS, and Android, including updates to the group header, and to the Control Center to allow for new art settings.

On Web, members get a clean, powerful browsing experience, where community members are presented with richer information, and with easy-to-use search and filtering capabilties, and results that are easy to understand and update.

Every interaction was carefully designed to reduce friction and make discovery feel natural, and... with the fear of using a basic adjective - FUN!
